Other Ministries
There are many ways to share in ministry at Souderton Mennonite Church.  Through volunteering, sharing rooms in our buildings and giving of financial or other resources, we can all devote ourselves to the work of God in the world!  Here are a number of additional ministries SMC is involved in:
MCC project of the month: A table in the church foyer invites anyone to support Mennonite Central Committee in their world-wide relief work through making school kits, health kits, donating blankets, etc.
Offering Projects:  The congregation and the children's ministry department periodically lift special offerings to sponsor a number of different ministries such as The Heifer Project, Morning Star Ministries, Indian Valley Opportunity Center, etc.
Quilt-N-Knot: On the first Tuesday of every month, this group meets from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall to quilt and knot comforters for mission projects (often for MCC). They also share devotions, prayer, and fellowship over lunch.
Prayer Shawls:   On the first Tuesday of every month, this group meets from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall foyer to knit and crochet prayer shawls to give to people going through difficult times, such as the loss of a loved one or a serious illness. The women “knit” prayers and blessings into the shawl.
Compassion International:  Many of the children, youth and adult Sunday School classes sponsor children through this well-known charity organization.

Mission Sundays: A number of times each year, SMC's church offering is devoted solely to missions through Mennonite Mission Network and Franconia Mennonite Conference Missions.
Interfaith Hospitality Network:  Indian Valley Housing runs a network in the area that assists families in finding jobs and housing.  Our church is involved in this network each year.
House of Hope:  A house that the church owns has been renovated into apartments that can be rented out.  Those leading this ministry work with the renters to assist them in times of housing crisis.
Aid for Friends: On the Welcome Table in the church lobby, there are dinner tins that anyone is welcome to take home and fill with some extra servings of dinner.  Bring the full dinner tins back to the church to be placed in a freezer in the Community Center Kitchen.  Volunteers from SMC take these frozen dinners to families in the community.
Souderton Head Start & English as a Second Language Classes:  SMC hosts these two educational programs in classrooms throughout our building.  The ESL classes are an extension of the work of Indian Valley Opportunity Center.
Korean Church:  A Korean church meets in our building regularly on Sunday afternoons for worship, teaching and fellowship.
Alpha Course: The Alpha Course is a ten-week opportunity to explore the Christian Faith. Courses are offered for all ages, from kids to adults. For more information on current Alpha Course sessions, please visit www.alphacafe.org.
